Mother Canada

My most recent (though Challenge was practically the same day) and my favourite piece thus far (in other words, it's been several months and I still love it unlike most of my work which I hate after a month). I am having prints of it right now and I already sold several on pre-orders a couple weeks ago at my high school's senior art show. Prints will be limited edition giclee (on canvas) and prices will vary depending on whether it is framed, gallery wrapped, or just the print.
It is a Canada Goose (for those of you who thought duck and are now wondering why you thought that it's becuase it's neck isn't extended- they don't set their nests with their neck outstretched).

Hardcore? Crazy? Or it could it be...Nuts!

**ORIGINAL MESSAGE**
So I'm waaaaay behind on deviations and whatnot due to, well, 60 hour workweeks on top of being enrolled full time. That's right! I'm working ten hour shifts 6 days a week and taking five college classes. I go to class at 8:00, work on homework or grab a nap between classes, get out at 3:30, get to work at 4:00, and work until 2:30 the next day. Then I either sleep or work on homework until 8:00 when I go to class again...in other words, coffee, energy drinks and most recently caffeine pills are a major part of my diet :XD: I admit, this is not easy to balance at all. This schedule requires minimum 28 hour days or a time turner to pull off. If anyone has a time turner I will buy it, by the way. This means that although I have two art classes my artwork is suffering. All oil paintings have been on hold for the past two months and will not commence any time soon :( I might post some of the stuff I've done for classes but most of it is crap. If anyone is thinking about trying this, I recommend not doing so. Seriously. Unless you're already an undead.
I guess that's why they call it Nut Labs! :lmao:

***UPDATE***
I attempted the above up until last Friday when I got really sick and had to call in sick. I was too sick to go to work through Tuesday (Tuesday I could have gone had I not still been having nosebleeds; bodily fluids on the line = mass quarantine and halt to production). When I returned to work on Wednesday I was informed that the previous day while I was talking to my supervisor over the phone he was in the middle of a meeting with management concerning Production and its employees and they told him that I had missed too many days and to end my assignment. He asked them why he should fire one of the few workers they had who actually did their job and they said "We don't give a fuck how good her work is she isn't here to do it." So they let me work ten hours on Wednesday night after I was informed of this and now I am currently out of a job.
I am not upset about this turn of events. I am still physically quite ill, though no longer on the verge pneumonia (I don't think...) and this gives me an opportunity to save my WRIT 201 grade* as well go back to doing artwork outside of class assignments. What I mean to say is, DO NOT SAY YOU'RE SORRY ABOUT ME LOOSING MY JOB. Yes, this makes it difficult to earn money for next year's tuition, especially since having good grades, doing community service, and being talented does not get you scholarships, and yeah, most of the time I enjoyed my job, but really, I don't regret it.

*So I have pretty good grades in all my classes except WRIT 201 which I need a minimum C- to get credit for; my professor won't give me exact grade because every time she has to talk about she gets upset about the fact that my writing is "excellent quality" but that she can't pass me because she has my papers down as late (...so wait a minute I have excellent work but...huh...WEIRD) though most of them have completed on time she just didn't receive them on time (due to both physically difficulty getting to class and e-mail epic fail

I am an artist. :painter:
...What? Okay fine. I have been painting for ...six years I believe. I got my first commission when I had only been painting a year and half :omg:. There are no pictures posted because first of all, it was on a six foot cross cut saw blade and those are really hard to get good pics of and second I've definitely advanced since then. I've received a few other commissions since then but traveling 60+ miles to high school and taking upper level classes made it so I only had one day a week to paint :sniff:. I didn't think it was fair to ask clients to wait nine months so I stopped taking commissions but I started having prints made of some of my other pieces and have been selling those :D
However, oil painting is not the only medium I like. I like ceramics, ink, metal sculpture, and print making (though I'm terrible at it :P) and my favourite, mixed media. I was really excited to get accepted to my top pick for an art school because it was the most reasonably priced compared to other art schools, would take all my AP credits instead of just two classes worth like the majority of schools, and was the only one that had the Intermedia major that was exactly what I wanted. I was also really excited to get a $20,000 scholarship to go there :woohoo:. My parents were not so much, and after my father's company filed bankruptcy and he was laid off (and then brought back, and then laid off, and then brought back, and then laid off etc.) I had to let go of my dream school...at least for a year :teleport:. Right now I'm applying for scholarships, finding a job, and getting some generals out of the way at the state school so I can afford to go next year. I REFUSE TO GIVE UP :evillaugh:
Most people tell me to just get my art degree here at the university, or get a business degree and not study art at all. They don't understand what I mean when I say I need to be exposed to that environment where every class, from business to science, also revolves around art, and where the people there are living for art the same way I am. The university has an art program, and its ceramics program is actually quite good, but I would have to take more classes that I don't need- ones I have AP credits in, for example- and there wouldn't be that environment. Most of you I don't need to explain this to, you're artists like me, but to the rest of the world my reasons fall on deaf ears. :heartbreaker:
What else is there? I wear bell-bottoms, ride a horse, bow hunt, raise a gazillion birds, have a mild obsession with knives, love Alice Cooper (named my one eyed ball python after him ;)), and according to most people I'm pretty freaking weird. And I like it that way. :ahoy:
